Proposed modifications:
change of music (something classical maybe),
change in images (background/ main menu),
change in effects of death and kills ,
change in sprites for character (maybe WW1 biplanes in sky),
change in game loop with more added levels and different goals.

These changes sound really good, I'm excited to see your finished product! In terms of music and art assets, this is a great opportunity to learn a new skill or hone your existing ones - I'd encourage you to try making your own assets!
As a tip, when making new levels, try to make sure that they're significant and unique/different from others in some shape or form. Adding new enemy types, challenges, or obstacles can help with this!
